2ND ANNUAL ROOF PARTY

As our apartments aren’t roomy enough for entertaining or socializing, so once again the residents of our building re-instituted the “roof party.”  We have a nice roof top, not elegant or fancy but with a nice view of the lights of the town and the stars above.  Quite adequate for having a few friends over. I think we numbered about 25-28

depending on at what moment you counted. And even the moon made a dramatic entrance rising ever so slowly over the hills, fashionably later than expected, but wowed us all.

There was lots of great food. It’s amazing what folks can create in their make shift vacation kitchens, then others of us opted for an easy out and ordered pizza delivered to the roof top.

I’m a “kindle person” an avid reader having read several books while here. I’m often puzzled by a phrase I hear quite often here that such and such is a good “beach read”.  Does that mean that it is light and frivolus with no real depth to it. Or is does it mean that it is very engrossing and you can forget the rest of the world while enjoying every minute detail.  Either way I was drawn to “Paradise Girls” as the author chose the Zihuatanejo area as the local for his suspense mystery story. And I understand he will be signing books at Joe’s Marina on Monday morning. He describes the area well and I think my favorite quote would have to be how he describes Ixtapa “a safe cocoonlike atmosphere for those who want to enjoy Mexico’s climate without having to deal with its culture”. Thats a phrase I will find use for. For what it is worth the book kept me entertained for a few days.

Its getting near to “Sailfest” and once again I have volunteered to sell T-shirts, caps and whatevers twice a week over the next few weeks. I think it is a very worthwhile project and we are here long enough that I do have the time to donate. Signing off KO
